The great thing about biking in Verbier is that it doesn’t have to be all up hill! The telecabines that run from Medran to Les Ruinettes are adapted in the Summer months so you can hang the front wheel of your bike on a large hook and hitch a ride up the mountain.
Verbier has some great mountain trails for biking. For the advanced riders, you can choose to try the more extreme downhill routes with names like ‘Tire’s Fire’ and ‘Woooohhh’ or for a more leisurely experience, you can enjoy over 800km of cross-country routes.
We left Chalet Spa Verbier on our bikes and cycled down into the village. We took the lift to Les Ruinettes and rode a mixture of mountain trails and country roads to descend to Le Chable lift station at the base of the mountain. The terrain was perfect for a family ride, with lots of places to stop along the way to regroup. The view over the resort and valley beyond was breathtaking as always, and there were other cyclists, walkers, and runners along the way, all enjoying the mountain terrain.
Once we reached the base of the valley we took the lift back up to Les Ruinettes, our start point earlier in the day for the final descent home to Chalet Spa Verbier. Door to door, the ride probably took 4 – 5 hours, but with a few stops along the way, we had been out all day. Another great adventure on the mountain! Time for a hot tub to celebrate!
